Talking Heads Release Acoustic “Psycho Killer” With Arthur Russell
The track is among other rarities on the reissue of their debut album ‘Talking Heads: 77’

Talking Heads have announced an exciting reissue of their debut album Talking Heads: 77, which will feature a wealth of unreleased material, including a live album from their legendary performance at CBGB. One of the key highlights of this reissue is a newly shared acoustic version of “Psycho Killer,” featuring avant-garde cellist and songwriter Arthur Russell. David Byrne spoke fondly of the collaboration, describing Russell’s unique influence and his personal connection to this stripped-back rendition.
This special reissue will be released on November 8 and will include a remastered version of the original album, along with 12 rare tracks, including alternate versions of “Psycho Killer” and other fan favorites. The release also comes with an 80-page hardcover book featuring photos, artwork, and insights from the band members and their recording engineer, Ed Stasium. For vinyl collectors, the live album is exclusive to the 4xLP set, offering a nostalgic glimpse into the early days of the band’s iconic career.
For fans of both Talking Heads and Arthur Russell, this reissue presents a rare opportunity to experience their collaboration in a new light, alongside previously unheard material that captures the energy and experimentation of the band’s formative years.
