Alt-rock band Pixies is gearing up to release their tenth studio album, The Night The Zombies Came, later this year. This upcoming album marks their first full-length project since 2022's Doggerel.

This will be their first album since the departure of bassist Paz Lenchantin earlier this year. Emma Richardson has joined the band, taking over bass for the record. Pixies returned to the studio with producer Tom Dalgety, who has been with them since 2015, to create this LP.

"The Night The Zombies Came" promises to explore unique themes and styles, such as druidism, gargoyles, and the rhythmic influence of Fleetwood Mac's peak era. Black Francis described the album as a collection of song fragments that create a cohesive narrative, akin to a movie.

The album will feature their recent single "You’re So Impatient," released last month, and a newly dropped track titled "Chicken." The latter is a dark, characteristically Pixies song where Black Francis likens himself to a chicken, with lyrics vividly describing a gruesome decapitation, all set to euphoric guitar swells.

"The Night The Zombies Came" will be available on October 25, 2024, in both digital and physical formats. Exclusive colored vinyl editions can be purchased from HMV, select record stores, and the Pixies' official store. Record stores will carry a transparent and red vinyl, while the official Pixies store will offer a transparent and violet version.

In anticipation of the album's release, Pixies are hitting the road this summer. Their tour includes several European dates in August, featuring a notable performance at Halifax's Piece Hall. They will also perform at various festivals, such as All Points East in London on August 25, alongside acts like LCD Soundsystem, Jai Paul, and Floating Points. The next day, they will appear at Victorious Festival in Portsmouth, with Jamie T, Courteeners, and Sugababes also on the lineup.

"The Night The Zombies Came" is now available for pre-order, and the single "Chicken" is out now for fans to enjoy.
